Is Your Weight and Diabetes Causing Liver Damage?

Excess weight can cause fat to accumulate along your waist line as well as in your liver, especially if you also have diabetes. As time goes on, the fatty liver can begin to develop scarring which could progress to liver cirrhosis. During much of this time, no symptoms are produced to warn you of what is happening. Developing cirrhosis is serious as it can cause liver cancer and liver failure (or require a liver transplant).

The best way to find out whether you have a fatty liver with scarring is to be tested. We are happy to offer that service to you at no charge and you may qualify to participate in a fatty liver research study. The test involves a brief medical history, a noninvasive scan of your liver performed in the exam room, and a blood test. This test has a $1000 value offered free-of-charge.

This test is being offered to those who have a high risk for liver problems. To qualify you must be 60 years old or older, and have two or more of the problems below:

  • Overweight or obese
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High blood triglycerides

If you qualify, all you have to do is call the number below to arrange an appointment or you may complete our interest form below and we will call you to arrange an appointment.
