| Brief Summary: |
There are a number of studies currently available for people who have type II (adult onset) diabetes. Most of these studies are designed to evaluate a new class of medications which work like your body to release just enough insulin to take care of the sugar (glucose) you consume with your meals but not so much it causes you to either gain weight or experience low blood sugar. In fact, these medications should lower blood sugar levels without any risk of lowering blood sugar too much and should help you lose weight. |
| Key Inclusion / Exclusion Criteria: |
To qualify for these nation-wide studies, your blood sugar levels need to be higher than they should be. If you do not know what you blood sugar level is, we will be happy to test this for you at no charge. Additionally, you may qualify for one of these studies if you fit into one of the following categories.
• Taking metformin (Glucophage) only for your diabetes
• Taking metformin with a sulfonylurea or pioglitazone
• Taking no medications but following a low sugar diet
